Skibo magazine 2019

SHOW is delighted to have published the 2019 edition of Skibo – the official magazine of The Carnegie Club, an exclusive private members’ club based at the historic Skibo castle in Scotland.

In this edition, Skibo’s chairman Peter Crome and resident historian Dr Victoria Connor co-author a socio-cultural feature on the evolution of British Clubs from the 1700s to the present day, with entertaining illustrations by Tug Rice; Robert Ryan writes about the enduring legacy of Skibo’s previous owner Andrew Carnegie and how he harnessed the power of the written word to inspire change; and Sir Tom Hunter talks about Carnegie’s ever-relevant influence on philanthropic activity around the world.

Elsewhere in the issue, we feature a beautiful fashion story photographed at the Skibo estate by Oskar Gyllenswärd; David Green describes the power of Jaguar’s new electric SUV, the I-Pace; Skibo’s chefs share their excitement about inventing new dishes with ingredients grown in their kitchen garden; we interview House of Garrard’s creative director Sara Prentice about the iconic jewellery brand’s rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship; and Gemma Billington uncovers how the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland became one of the world’s leading centres for the performing arts.

Show Media has published the 2018 edition of Skibo – the official magazine of The Carnegie Club, an exclusive private members’ club based at the historic Skibo Castle in Scotland.

In this edition, Skibo’s resident archivist Dr Victoria Connor talks about the revival of the castle’s walled garden, beautifully illustrated by Ryn Frank. Nick Smith gives an account of the joys and rituals of feasting, accompanied by mouth-watering original photography by Helen Cathcart. Jeremy Ellwood pens an ode to The Carnegie Links and the newly renovated Clubhouse. David Green surveys Land Rover’s capable fleet of luxury SUVs, and elite fitness and nutrition experts Harry Jameson and James Collins share their health and wellbeing advice.

Elsewhere in the issue, photographer Michael Thomas and stylist David Hawkins collaborate to highlight the high-end accessories that will enhance every occasion, from outdoor pursuits to dressing for dinner. Jemima Wilson uncovers the technological advancements in outerwear that make embracing the great outdoors ever-more appealing, and we explore the enticing array of goods available from the new Skibo Shop.

We also learn about the precious nesting ospreys that have made Skibo their home, as well as the abundance of other wildlife to be discovered on the estate; and explore the ancient Caledonian forest that lies within easy reach of the club, offering a chance to experience the splendour of the Scottish landscape in its wild and natural glory.
