Skibo magazine 2019

SHOW is delighted to have published the 2019 edition of Skibo – the official magazine of The Carnegie Club, an exclusive private members’ club based at the historic Skibo castle in Scotland.

In this edition, Skibo’s chairman Peter Crome and resident historian Dr Victoria Connor co-author a socio-cultural feature on the evolution of British Clubs from the 1700s to the present day, with entertaining illustrations by Tug Rice; Robert Ryan writes about the enduring legacy of Skibo’s previous owner Andrew Carnegie and how he harnessed the power of the written word to inspire change; and Sir Tom Hunter talks about Carnegie’s ever-relevant influence on philanthropic activity around the world.

Elsewhere in the issue, we feature a beautiful fashion story photographed at the Skibo estate by Oskar Gyllenswärd; David Green describes the power of Jaguar’s new electric SUV, the I-Pace; Skibo’s chefs share their excitement about inventing new dishes with ingredients grown in their kitchen garden; we interview House of Garrard’s creative director Sara Prentice about the iconic jewellery brand’s rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship; and Gemma Billington uncovers how the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland became one of the world’s leading centres for the performing arts.

There are also pieces about Skibo’s newly renovated stables, the allure of its spa, an exhilarating transatlantic golf tournament and the Club’s popular members’ trips to destinations such as Verbier and Siena.
